The performance data featured represents past performance, which is no guarantee of future results. Investment returns and the principal value of a variable annuity will fluctuate; therefore, you may have a gain or loss when money is withdrawn or received. Fund performance fluctuates and currently may be significantly higher or lower than stated.

The top 10% of funds in each broad asset class receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4 stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2 stars and the bottom 10% receive 1 star.

  1. Returns reflect a 1.40% annual annuity charge applicable to contracts purchased on or after 1/1/2009 and issued with joint annuitants (as opposed to the 1.25% annual annuity charge applicable to contracts purchased on or after 1/1/2009 and issued with a single annuitant). Contracts purchased prior to 1/1/2009 are assessed a 1.25% annual annuity charge if issued with joint annuitants and a 1.10% annual annuity charge if issued with a single annuitant. See performance reflecting 1.25%. For periods of less than five years, it's assumed the owner surrenders the contract at the end of the applicable time period and the entire amount withdrawn is subject to the 2% Surrender Fee. Finally, certain funds have voluntary expense limits. Without these expense reimbursements, returns would have been lower.
  2. Returns for periods of less than one year are cumulative from the inception date indicated.

Performance returns reflect the subaccount inception, the date each portfolio was first available in the insurance company's variable product.

Total returns include changes in share price and reinvestment of dividends and capital gains.

Unless otherwise noted, returns are adjusted for all applicable recurring and non-recurring fees (including redemption fees), loads and charges, if any.

VIP refers to Variable Insurance Products.
